Text for 'Traces' exhibition by Azusa Kuno, Monika Jarecka and Daniel Chluba at Atelierhof Kreuzberg (15-22.03.2013).
[en] Traces 1.A mark, object, or other indication of the existence or passing of something. A visible mark left by the passage of person or animal 2.Each of the two side straps, chains, or ropes by which a horse is attached to a vehicle that it is pulling. An old former horse stable, Atelierhof Kreuzberg presents Traces, a collective exhibition showing the works of the artists Azusa Kuno, Daniel Chluba and Monika Jarecka. This exhibition talks for itself, and the visitor can see from a wall painting to a hair-installation, from a projection or painting to a video. Azusa Kuno’s installation and projection is about the relationship between the person, the person’s body and the society that belongs to, where the body-in her case the human hair-acts as a traffic field of interventions and transmissions that come from inside (person) but also from outside (society). The goal of her work is to create an space for thinking and exchanging. Monika Jarecka paints on the wall and at the same time interacts with the space. Her asymmetric lines and the interaction of color trace the environment where she works, leaving a space for the spontaneity and improvisation. The video shown by the german artist Daniel Chluba, according to his conceptual line of work, is a sample of the contradictions that surround us as a human behavior in a way that puts paradox and opposition in the same view. Traces aims to generate different opinions leaving space for interpretation. This exhibition is curated by Olga Sureda, an independent spanish curator based in Berlin.
